Background

Where Science Meets Practice

Andrea Techera is a behavioral science consultant, researcher, and master's-level clinician. Her work sits at the intersection of organizational performance, workforce psychology, and evidence-based practice — focused on the human factors that determine whether organizations thrive or struggle.

Drawing from graduate training in Clinical Counseling Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, workforce research, and more than two decades of business ownership, Andrea helps organizations better understand the behavioral and organizational factors that influence employee engagement, workforce stability, leadership effectiveness, team functioning, and long-term performance.

Andrea earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Psychology & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Assumption University, where she was awarded a competitive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Research Fellowship. Her work integrates behavioral science, organizational research, and evidence-based psychological principles to help leaders move beyond reactive management and address workforce challenges with precision.

Her research has focused on occupational burnout, the psychological determinants of sustained performance, professional identity, moral injury, behavioral adherence, and psychological well-being in caregiving and high-demand professions. She is also the author of research examining moral injury, human-animal relationships, and suicide risk among veterinary professionals.

In addition to her research background, Andrea has provided clinical services within community mental health settings, supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma-related concerns, and complex life stressors through evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Prior to pursuing advanced behavioral science training, Andrea spent more than twenty years operating and managing a successful business while also working within coaching, animal welfare, and public service environments. These experiences provided firsthand insight into the people challenges faced by professionals in emotionally demanding, high-responsibility roles — and continue to inform her practical, systems-oriented consulting approach.

Today, Andrea brings together behavioral science, organizational consulting, clinical expertise, and real-world leadership experience to help organizations build stronger teams, develop more effective leaders, improve workforce stability, and create the conditions where both people and performance can thrive.

A Particular Focus

Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary medicine remains a particular area of focus within Andrea's work. Veterinary professionals operate at the intersection of medical care, ethical decision-making, client service, and emotionally demanding caregiving responsibilities — conditions that create people challenges extending well beyond traditional models of burnout and stress.

Through Muzzle the Hustle™, Andrea works directly with veterinary organizations to address the root causes of turnover and disengagement — building teams that are more cohesive, more psychologically equipped, and better positioned to sustain high performance over time.

Her ongoing research into moral injury, caregiving relationships, occupational stress, and suicide risk within veterinary populations reflects a long-standing personal and professional commitment to this field — one that goes well beyond consulting.
